$2.7 billion Gabba rebuild in doubt as incoming Queensland premier signals major Olympic project rev

Queensland's incoming premier has vowed to review all major infrastructure projects for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, casting doubt on the future of the controversial $2.7 billion Gabba stadium rebuild. It comes as Steven Miles also prepares for a significant cabinet reshuffle — promising to bring in "fresh faces" to the line-up of state government ministers.

Mr Miles announced on Tuesday that under the state government he leads, an independent infrastructure agency would be set up to deliver projects for the upcoming Games.

The current deputy premier confirmed on Wednesday it would mean major infrastructure projects for the Olympics, including the demolition of the Gabba and the $137 million proposal for a temporary stadium at the RNA showgrounds, would be reviewed.
