Bumper-to-bumper traffic as Brisbane tries to escape to the beach
Crawling traffic is plaguing the two major routes out of Brisbane as the post-Christmas exodus enters a third day.
Motorists heading out of the Queensland capital to the Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast were being delayed as congestion worsened on Friday afternoon.
Cars were practically at a stand-still from Yatala down to Upper Coomera.
“Then it is really heavy from Merrimac right through to the border,” Mr Hart said.
“Travel time from Brisbane to Helensvale, you are looking at about an hour and 15 minutes - that usually takes about 45 minutes.”
Mr Hart said traffic should ease during the afternoon.
