Brisbane Roar to unveil Robbie Fowler as new coach

It's been the season from hell for Brisbane Roar, so they've turned to the man known as 'God' to fix it. Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler is set to be be officially unveiled as the Roar's new coach, bringing the A-League club's four-month search for a permanent successor to John Aloisi to an overdue end.

The Herald understands Fowler will be presented to the media on Tuesday ahead of Brisbane's final game of the A-League campaign at home to Adelaide United on Anzac Day.

Darren Davies, the Roar's caretaker boss, will remain in charge for that game and is expected to serve as an assistant coach when Fowler takes the reins next season. Thursday's match will give Fowler a good opportunity to survey the size of the task in front of him from the stands at Suncorp Stadium, where departing club greats Matt McKay and Henrique will also be farewelled.

It will be Fowler's first managerial job, discounting the short period in which he was acting head coach while still a player at Muangthong United in Thailand in 2011-12.
