Anti-Adani group holds Brisbane CBD protest, plans further disruptions
Anti-Adani protesters have swarmed Brisbane’s CBD in an effort to hold the city to ransom over the Adani mine and government inaction on climate change.
Members of the environmental action group Extinction Rebellion, which has chapters around the world, gathered on Margaret Street in Brisbane’s CBD this morning to protest the proposed Carmichael Mine.
The group sat in the middle of a traffic intersection on Margaret Street in the city, which caused traffic disruptions and headaches for commuters on their way to work.
