Confident and comfortable': Government admits West Aussies acting as if COVID-19 doesn't exi

The state government has admitted the people of Western Australia are behaving as if COVID-19 doesn’t exist, leaving the state especially vulnerable to community spread if one case was to get through the hard border.

Tourism Minister Paul Papalia said West Australians were enjoying their backyard and “it’s incredible to watch”.

"Right now all Western Australians – and I can guarantee you this – they are operating as though there is no COVID. And that’s great because they’re comfortable, and they’ve got a confidence about the environment they’re living in," Mr Papalia said.
