Brisbane Airport agrees to trial more flights over Moreton Bay to reduce suburban noise issues

Brisbane Airport and Airservices Australia have agreed to trial several changes to how flights over the city are managed, following hundreds of noise complaints from suburban residents.

In July 2020, the airport opened its new parallel runway and changed flight paths to match directing hundreds of flights daily over suburbs including Bulimba, New Farm, Brookfield, and the Samford Valley.

Noise complaints immediately skyrocketed, and last year the Aircraft Noise Ombudsman found Airservices Australia had not provided complete information to residents about the impacts of the flight path changes.
