Queensland concreter Jordan Van Doorn accused of murdering his boss with wrench and knife
A murder trial for a man, who is accused of repeatedly stabbing and bludgeoning his boss over the head with a spanner has been told his alleged victim was probably "incapacitated and couldn't defend himself' when he died. Jordan Van Doorn was charged with the murder of 59-year-old Khalil Ibrahim at Cannon Hill, in Brisbane in October 2021.
The 31-year-old, who worked as a concreter for Mr Ibrahim's business at the time, maintains he acted in self-defence.
The court heard the alleged victim went to Mr Van Doorn's house about 1pm on the day of the incident, to drop off his pay cheque.
The prosecution alleged a fight broke out between the pair, and Mr Ibrahim was beaten and stabbed less than 30 minutes after he arrived.
Today, crown prosecutor Chris Cook held up the alleged murder weapons, as he gave his opening address to the jury in the Supreme Court in Brisbane.
"Mr Van Doorn became enraged. He attacked his boss. He attacked him unexpectedly and viciously. He was armed at some stages with this metal wrench.
