Queensland, NSW face possible power blackouts tonight as regulator warns of load shedding to protect
Queensland and New South Wales are being warned of potential blackouts with a power shortage expected tonight.
The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) has issued a 'lack of reserve' forecast, meaning demand is likely to outstrip supply in the two states.
Queenslanders are being urged to conserve electricity or face shedding in the states from 5pm until 11pm.
People in New South Wales need to conserve power from about 8pm.
If demand outstrips what is being generated, load shedding will happen to protect the network.
