Australia calls off club and community rugby amid coronavirus crisis
Rugby Australia has shut down club and community rugby until May as a response to the global coronavirus pandemic. Such a move is unprecedented in Australia since World War II.
RA’s Sydney offices have been closed for cleaning after two members of the Australian sevens program were tested for coronavirus after showing signs and symptoms associated with the COVID-19.
RA issued a statement on Monday afternoon following a meeting of its national development panel.
“Rugby Australia along with the state and territory member unions have unanimously agreed to postpone all community rugby until the first week of May, effective immediately,” the statement read.
